A Mathematical Model for Interplanetary Logistics
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of this paper is to demonstrate a methodology for designing and evaluating the operational planning for interplanetary exploration missions. A primary question for space exploration mission design is how to best design the logistics required to sustain the exploration initiative. Using terrestrial logistics modeling tools that have been extended to encompass the dynamics and requirements of space transportation, an architectural decision method has been created. The model presented in this paper is capable of analyzing a variety of mission scenarios over an extended period of time with the goal of defining interesting mission architectures that enable space logistics. This model can be utilized to evaluate different logistics trades, such as a possible establishment of a push-pull boundary, which can aid in commodity prepositioning. The model is demonstrated on an Apollo-style mission to both provide an example and validate the methodology.

متن کاملSolving a bi-objective mathematical model for location-routing problem with time windows in multi-echelon reverse logistics using metaheuristic procedure
During the last decade, the stringent pressures from environmental and social requirements have spurred an interest in designing a reverse logistics (RL) network. The success of a logistics system may depend on the decisions of the facilities locations and vehicle routings. The location-routing problem (LRP) simultaneously locates the facilities and designs the travel routes for vehicles among ...
متن کاملA reverse logistics chain mathematical model for a sustainable production system of perishable goods based on demand optimization
Sustainability in the supply chain means pushing the supply chain to focus on social, economic and environmental aspects, and addressing the existing problems in the traditional supply chain. Considering the importance of evaluating supply chain networks, especially in the field of perishable commodities, this paper aimed to design a mathematical model for the reverse supply chain of perishable...
متن کاملA two-stage mathematical model for evacuation planning and relief logistics in a response phase
Crises and natural disasters are always existed in human history, and continue to exist in the future; therefore, people are always affected by these natural disasters. Hence, evacuation planning after natural disasters (e.g., earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, fire, storms, warfare and nuclear explosions) is vital. Given that natural disasters cause irreparable financial loss and the loss of life ...
متن کاملA Mathematical Model for City Logistics Distribution Network Design with the Aim of Minimizing Response Time
Recently, urbanization has been expanded rapidly in the world and a number of metropolitan areas have been appeared with a population of more than 10 million people. Because of dense population in metropolitan and consequently increasing the delivery of goods and services, there has been a lot of problems including traffic congestion, air pollution, accidents and high energy consumption. This m...
